OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE GRANT VALLEY TOWN BOARD OF SUPERVISORS BOARD OF REVIEW OF TUESDAY, MAY 3, 2011.

The Grant Valley Town Board of Supervisors met for their yearly Board of Review on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at the Grant Valley Town Hall.

Supervisor Hiltz called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Board Members present were Hiltz, Boyer, Rauch, and Clerk Schmidt.  Duane Ebbighausen and Clyde Horlick were present from the county and Bob Seado, the township assessor was also present.

One resident was present with questions:

Randy Gregg was present and has two parcels and was wondering if the appropriate rate was being assessed for his swamp land.  It was shown that he had 12.88 acres of swamp and that he was being charged the appropriate rate for that.  Duane indicated that $1,075.00 per acre is the lowest in Grant Valley Township and $2,515.00 is the highest.  Mr. Gregg is paying $108.00 per year on the swamp land.  Mr. Gregg also asked what the savings would be if the structure was gone on the non-homestead parcel and all that was there was the land.  Duane indicated he would not save much money but could do an ag homestead and his rate would drop almost half.  He would need to have 10 acres of land in production however.

Randy Platt called into the county and asked if his land, the Bohlmann farm, was being assessed correctly.  Bob Seado will go out and review it and make his recommendation.

Jeff Roberts called into the county and asked about his twin homes and if they were being assessed correctly as he had a new appraisal.  The depreciation on his parcel was not categorized right.  No action other than clerical for the depreciation was taken.

Russell Hiltz asked about his land down by the river.  Bob Seado will look at it and this decision will be made at the county board level.

Supervisor Boyer made a motion to approve all actions as listed.  Supervisor Rauch seconded motion and it carried on unanimous voice call vote.

As there were no more residents, Supervisor Boyer made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Supervisor Rauch.  Motion carried on unanimous voice call vote and the Board of Review was adjourned at 10:10 a.m.

On Monday, May 9, 2011, Clyde Horlick called from Beltrami County and indicated they had done an adjustment in their office for Randy Platt and had lowered the value on just the house to $39,071.00.  He also indicated that it was their recommendation to lower Russell Hiltz’s to $23,200.00 on parcel 15.00412 but that it will be taken care of at the county level so no conflict occurs.

Respectfully submitted,

Angela Schmidt,

Clerk
